Initiatives related to sustainability and road transport decarbonization projects by A4 Holding continue as part of the second edition of the Universal Truck Show, once again hosted this year at Truck Park Brescia Est (Via Sandro Pertini 16, Castenedolo) on 16 and 17 September 2023.
On Saturday, 16 September, at 3:00 PM, an event organized in collaboration with Enilive, the new brand of Eni Sustainable Mobility, will take place. During the event, the features and benefits of the new product HVOlution, a biofuel produced entirely from renewable raw materials, will be presented. Speakers will include executives from the motorway company of the A4 Holding Group, representatives of its subsidiary A4 Trading, a company active for nearly twenty years in mobility-related services along the A4 Brescia Padova and A31 Valdastico motorways, and representatives from Enilive.
During the event, the first refueling with HVOlution will take place. This biofuel can be used in all engines, including heavy duty vehicles, provided they are compatible with the EN 15940 XTL specification, and it is composed 100 percent of HVO, hydrotreated vegetable oil. HVOlution is produced in the biorefineries of Eni Sustainable Mobility in Venice and Gela, mainly from waste raw materials such as used cooking oils, animal fats, and residues from the agri food industry, along with a smaller portion of vegetable oils derived from crops grown on degraded land, following a circular economy model applied to mobility. Considering the entire production and logistics chain, HVOlution can reduce emissions by up to 90 percent compared to conventional fossil fuels, depending on the feedstocks used.
A4 Holding has long pursued a strategy of social, economic, and environmental sustainability, making decisions and adopting practices aimed at a structured approach. Numerous materials and solutions are used to reduce environmental impact, including recycled materials and sustainable graphene for road paving, recycled salt for de icing, optimized waste management, investments in noise barriers to manage acoustic pollution, and the promotion of electronic toll systems to reduce vehicle emissions.
Through this new HVOlution supply agreement with Eni Sustainable Mobility, which further expands the range of alternative fuels offered by the A4 Holding Group, including electric charging stations and LNG, CNG and natural gas refueling points, heavy vehicles traveling along the A4 motorway will soon be able to refuel at Truck Park Brescia Est in Castenedolo, home to the largest truck park in Europe, used by over 150000 trucks every year. The use of this new biofuel will help reduce CO2 emissions, benefiting the areas crossed by A4 Holding network.
Our experience continues and our commitment to promoting a low environmental impact mobility model is becoming increasingly strong, commented Gonzalo Alcalde, President of A4 Holding. This is also thanks to valuable partners such as Eni Sustainable Mobility. The daily attention we dedicate to the heavy transport sector through the services offered at Truck Park Brescia Est aims to enhance our offering and better meet the needs of truck drivers, now with greater focus on the environment and surrounding areas through the promotion of eco fuels.
In accordance with Directive EU 2018 2001 RED II. According to this directive, the reduction in CO2 equivalent emissions of HVOlution along the supply chain in 2022 ranged between 60 percent and 90 percent compared to the fossil fuel benchmark, depending on the raw materials used.
